The Karma Kagyu tradition annually conducts the Winter Kagyu Gunchoe debate conference, the Arya Kshema Spring Dharma Gathering, and the Kagyu Monlam Prayer, representing the most prominent traditional events. In recent years, due to the impact of the pandemic, these ceremonies have transitioned to online platforms. At the end of 2023, the winter debate was held in Bodhgaya, with an increased participation of Buddhist schools compared to pre-pandemic times. This surge led to overcrowding at the Tergar Monastery, with some attendees having to sit in the monastery corridors.
The Karmapa noted that many Kagyu Buddhist schools had been destroyed over the past hundred years. He emphasized that the Kagyu Buddhist schools are now in good condition in all aspects and called on the monks to make good use of this opportunity. He believed there was no better learning opportunity than now, so he encouraged the monks to seize the opportunity and study in depth.
The 38th Kagyu Monlam Prayer Ceremony was held grandly in Bodhgaya, and the venerable Tai Situ Rinpoche was present to preside over the entire event. Rinpoche also used a noble ceremony to embrace the Maitreya Buddha empowerment and a red crown ceremony for more than 10,000 sanghas and lay people who participated. The prayer successfully ended on January 25, 2024. Both sanghas and laypeople enthusiastically take part. The organizer counted more than 7,000 applicants, and the actual number of on-site participants far exceeded this number. Due to the crowding in the venue, many people had to sit outside the puja venue.
The Karmapa incident aimed to undermine the Karmapa and Karma Kagyu, but the mastermind's plan again proved unsuccessful. The application by the Karmapa for a Dominican passport stirred displeasure from the Indian government, and His Holiness the Dalai Lama personally intervened to coordinate a resolution. The Karmapa has expressed that His Holiness Dalai Lama is his root guru, likening their relationship to that of father and son. “Gyalwang Karmapa is shouldered with great hope and trust from His Holiness the Dalai Lama in continuing his endeavor to protect Tibet's distinct religion and culture.” On June 26, 2022, during the Karmapa 38 Birthday celebration in New York, the Speaker Khenpo Sonam Tenphel of the Tibetan exile government stated.
Recently, Tai Situ Rinpoche and the Karmapa sister have separately met with His Holiness the Dalai Lama. His Holiness possesses a clear understanding of the Karmapa incident and the Karmapa's current whereabouts.

During the Saga Dawa Festival in mid-May 2023, the His Holiness Dalai Lama expressed, “Within a few years, both within and outside Tibet, we will gather together, so please rest assured. Let's have the pilgrimage to the Potala Palace and the Jokhang Temple together. Please have faith that one day, the truth about Tibet will emerge.” His Holiness anticipates returning to Tibet within the next few years, possibly related to the Karmapa incident. As Karmapa faces political persecution and the truth becomes evident, global attention will once again focus on the human rights issues in Tibet, potentially paving the way for the return of His Holiness and Karmapa to their homeland.
“China asked the United States to hand over the Karmapa to it,”of course, the United States government and the Tibetan government-in-exile immediately learned of this significant news. The United States has always paid exceptional attention to the issues of Tibet, Taiwan, and Xinjiang, so the United States government will undoubtedly be concerned about China's request for the Karmapa to return to China. On July 13, 2018, the Karmapa and the Tibetan exile government participated in the birthday celebration hosted by U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi at the Capitol for the Dalai Lama. The Karmapa expressed his position through actions and stated that he would only return to his hometown when His Holiness the Dalai Lama returns to Tibet.

While we are still unclear about the intentions behind this special celebration event, what can be confirmed is its close connection to the Karmapa incident. Perhaps it aims to warn those individuals that their wrongdoing towards Karmapa cannot be concealed from the world, as the Taiwan government, the Tibetan government-in-exile, and the United States are already aware and will take action against their behavior.
Karmapa Dream Prophecies in 2019
